Wrongful Death

If someone else’s careless or reckless actions caused you to lose a loved one, the estate may be entitled to compensation in a wrongful death action.  Wrongful death is recognized as the wrongdoing, negligent act, or default of a party that caused your loved one to die. Every year, families grieve the loss of a loved one who dies of the carelessness or recklessness of another person or entity.  A wrongful death lawsuit is intended to provide the surviving family members with financial support for monetary losses stemming from the death and compensation for your family’s emotional losses.  Punitive damages may also be awarded when a defendant’s actions were malicious, intentional, and outrageous.  Wrongful death claims are typically part of mass tort litigations, personal injury cases, and medical malpractice actions.
